New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team clinched a 101-97 OT victory at York on Wednesday evening to close out regular season play.
Hunter came out strong in the first half, taking a narrow lead of 42-38 into halftime. Led by standout performances from Kareem McDonald, Jack Meyers, and Corey Jones Jr., the Hawks maintained their composure and executed their game plan effectively.
However, York refused to go down without a fight, staging a comeback in the second half to tie the game at 88-88 at the end of regulation.Â
As the game headed into overtime, both teams dug deep, leaving everything on the court in a battle of wills. In the end, the Hawks emerged victorious, outlasting York to secure the win with a final score of 101-97.
 McDonald led the scoring for the Hawks with 26 points, closely followed by J. Meyers with 24 points and Jones Jr. with 19 points. Luka Jakic and Casey Meyers also made significant contributions, chipping in with 15 and 7 points respectively.
The win sees Hunter College finish the regular season with an 11-14 record overall and an 8-6 record in the CUNYAC conference, positioning them well for the upcoming playoffs. Meanwhile, York concludes their season with a 5-19 record overall and a 3-11 record in conference play.
The conference tournament begins on Saturday Feb. 17 with seeding TBA.
