New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team opened up conference play with a 3-0 road win over CCNY on Tuesday evening.
From the first serve, the Hawks (3-6, 1-0 CUNYAC) controled the match. The first set saw both teams battling back-and-forth, but Hunter managed to maintain a slight edge, closing it out at 25-19. Led by the stellar performances of key players like Kyle Foley and Annes Deljanin, Hunter's offense proved too much for the Beavers' (3 -5, 0-2 CUNYAC) defense to handle.
The second set unfolded with the Pruple and Gold continuing its dominance, despite CCNY's efforts to mount a comeback, Hunter held its ground, securing a 25-22 victory in the set. Muhammad Al-Amine Mbaye and Matisse Lee-Maarek delivered crucial points, to aid in the Hawks' 2-0 edge
As the third set commenced, Hunter showed no signs of relenting as the team left CCNY struggling to find momentum. The Hawks sealed the deal with a dominant 25-7 win in the final set, completing a clean sweep of the match.
Al-Amine Mbaye and Annes Deljanin led Hunter with seven kills each, followed by Lee-Maarek with six while Cooper Moran paced the Hawks with 36 assists and five digs.
