BOX SCORE Kings Point, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team (6-3) continued its strong start to the season with a 3-1 win over United States Merchant Marine Academy (6-3) on the road at Liebertz Gym on Tuesday evening. Hunter showcased resilience and depth throughout the match, winning three out of four sets (25-15, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21) to secure their sixth victory.

Leading the charge was Izabella Williams, who had a standout performance with 13 kills on 44 attempts, contributing a total of 15.5 points. Despite nine errors, Williams' aggressive play and timely defense helped anchor the Hawks' attack.

Setter Bethany Tomaneng ran the offense efficiently, recording 37 assists while also adding 15 digs and a service ace, earning 7.5 points. Her poise under pressure kept the Hawks' offense steady during key moments, especially in the third and fourth sets.

Simone McIntyre added 11 kills and 15 digs, with a total of 12 points. Though her hitting percentage was .079, her consistency in both attack and defense made a significant impact. Amina Moummad followed closely with nine kills on a .212 hitting percentage, along with nine digs, delivering crucial points when the Hawks needed them.

Lily Mattison added seven kills and two service aces, contributing 9.5 points overall. Her ability to serve under pressure, combined with key blocks, helped the Hawks maintain momentum in the latter stages of the match.

On defense, Erin Dugan was a stalwart with 22 digs, neutralizing Merchant Marine's offensive efforts and providing the platform for counterattacks. Kayla Treadwell also chipped in with solid defensive play, collecting eight digs.

Hunter's performance at the net was balanced, with four blocks to keep the Merchant Marine attack in check, while their eight service aces highlighted their aggressive approach from the line.

The Hawks continue their season on Sept. 21 as they host Farmingdale for a 12:00 p.m. match.
