BOX SCORE Dallas, Pa.- Hunter College powered through a hard-fought match against Misericordia on Saturday in their third match of the Cougar Clash, winning three sets to one (25-20, 17-25, 25-14, 25-21).
Simone McIntyre led Hunter's offensive attack, recording 10 kills with a .172 hitting percentage. She also showcased her serving skills, landing four service aces to contribute 14 total points. Izabella Williams was right behind with nine kills, three service aces, and 16 digs, tallying 12 points in total.
Bethany Tomaneng orchestrated the offense with 33 assists, and added one service ace and 10 digs, demonstrating her versatility on the court. The balanced attack also featured Lily Mattison with six kills, a block, and three service aces, contributing 10.5 points to Hunter's tally.
Amina Moummad and Vera Montalbano chipped in with six and four kills respectively, while Moummad added two service aces, bringing her total to 8.5 points. The team's collective effort in both attack and defense led to a .186 hitting percentage for the match, with significant contributions from all over the court.
Hunter's defense was a key factor in the victory, as the team combined for 51 digs, led by Williams and Tomaneng, who managed to keep Misericordia's offensive threats in check.
After a second-set loss, Hunter regrouped and took command in the third set, establishing an early lead and maintaining momentum for the remainder of the match. The Hawks will play their final match of the weekend at 1:00 p.m. as they take on Oneonta.
