BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Hunter College women's tennis team extended its win streak to six with a 7-0 road victory over conference opponent Brooklyn College on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC play, while the Bulldogs dropped to 5-5 (3-1 CUNYAC).
Hunter earned its first win at No. 2 doubles as Anna Chapko and Julia Aksamentova teamed up for a 6-3 victory. The Bulldogs forfeited the third doubles match, giving Hunter the doubles point.
Rookie of the Week Isabella Tchij continued to impress with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Chapko followed with her second victory of the day, taking the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 7-6 despite a strong second-set effort from Brooklyn.
Player of the Week Jade Schonfeld continued her dominant season with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, while Aksamentova, last year's conference MVP, blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Samantha Moser and Sree Kolla also notched wins in their singles matches, completing the sweep for the Purple and Gold.
Hunter returns to action on Oct. 14 for a 6 p.m. road match at Sarah Lawrence College.
