BOX SCORE WAYNE, N.J. — The Hunter College women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, falling in straight sets to William Paterson University (25-12, 25-15, 25-19) at the Sports and Recreation Center.
Hunter (9-21, 4-2 CUNYAC) showed improvement in each set, battling back from a slow start to make the third set competitive with multiple ties and lead changes. The Hawks were within striking distance late in the final frame, thanks to more aggressive attacking and timely defense.
Lily Mattison led the offense with five kills and added a block assist and two digs. Amina Moummad chipped in four kills and seven digs while serving one ace. Kassidy Cruz Nuesi also tallied four kills and added to the defensive effort with solid play at the net.
Setter Madeline Snyder paced the offense with 14 assists and added four digs, two kills, and a block. Michelle Liu contributed two kills and a block, while Natalie Morrill posted a team-high nine digs and an ace.
As a team, Hunter totaled 17 kills and 36 digs, working to stay composed against a powerful William Paterson attack. Despite the loss, the Hawks will look to build on their third-set momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
