Women’s Hoops Breezes Past CCNY; Fuller Posts Career Night

NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball continued conference play on Wednesday night with a statement road win, overwhelming CCNY 88-38 with contributions from across the roster.

With the win, the Hawks improved to 2-0 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, and 7-3 overall, while the Beavers fell to 0-1 behind their conference opener and 2-6 overall.

Hunter controlled the tempo from the opening tip, forcing 29 turnovers and holding their opponent to just 15 first-half points. Hunter's defensive pressure translated into quick offense, as they built a 48–15 lead by halftime and never looked back.

Ten different players scored in the effort, with Mia Fuller leading the charge. The junior guard turned in a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while adding six assists and six steals, consistently disrupting passing lanes and finishing in transition.

Alexa Charles poured in 23 points and swiped seven steals, showcasing her typical two-way dominance. Gianna Henriques anchored the frontcourt with 14 points and 12 rebounds, posting her second straight double-double and helping the Hawks outscore their opponent 60–10 in the paint.

Kennedy DeRuy knocked down a pair of threes and finished with 11 points, and the bench chipped in with 16 points to seal the blowout.

The Hawks return to the court Dec. 30 for the two-day WPI Tournament, where the squad will face  Bates College and hosting Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
