CHESTER, Pa. — Hunter College men's volleyball split its matches at the Widener Tri-Match on Saturday, falling to host Widener in four sets before bouncing back with a strong victory over Saint Elizabeth.

Match 1: Widener 3, Hunter 1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15)

The Hawks (4-6) opened the day with an encouraging start, taking the first set 25-20 behind efficient attacking from Ahmed Mohamed and Annes Deljanin. Mohamed led the team with 17 kills, hitting .270, while Deljanin posted a near-perfect .636 attack percentage with eight kills.

Setter Charles Pampliega orchestrated the offense with 38 assists, helping Hunter remain competitive in the second and third sets. Despite their efforts, Widener found momentum late, overcoming Hunter's early lead with strong serving and blocking.

Felipe Delgado chipped in seven kills, while Lucas George and Jon Pflueger each added six. Hunter finished with a .171 hitting percentage, but Widener's defensive pressure in the fourth set proved too much, closing out the match 25-15.

Match 2: Hunter 3, Saint Elizabeth 1 (25-18, 25-13, 19-25, 25-19)

Hunter rebounded in the second match, securing a four-set victory over Saint Elizabeth behind a balanced offensive effort. Jon Domingo paced the Hawks with 13 kills, hitting .333, while Mohamed delivered another dominant performance with 10 kills and four service aces.

The Hawks controlled the first two sets with efficient hitting, posting a .440 attack percentage in the opening frame. Pampliega distributed 30 assists while adding a service ace and five digs.

After dropping the third set, Hunter responded in the fourth, using key contributions from Wyatt Kotuk (four kills) and Felipe Delgado (two kills, five assists) to close out the match. The Hawks finished with a .231 hitting percentage, recording 12 service aces as a team.

With the split, Hunter moves to 4-6 on the season and will look to build momentum as they open conference play at CCNY on Wednesday. First serve is slated for 7:00 p/,/
