NEW YORK — Hunter College wrapped up a dominant regular season with a commanding 76-49 victory over York (NY) on Tuesday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex, finishing with a flawless 10-0 home record. The Hawks, who honored seniors Erin Cosio, Katie Burke, Michelle Stuchl, Eliah Yode, and Kimberly Lau before tipoff, used a second-quarter surge to put the game away early and secure their place as CUNYAC regular-season champions.
Erin Cosio led the charge early, knocking down two quick three-pointers to give Hunter an early spark. She finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including four makes from beyond the arc. Kimberly Lau was active on both ends, dishing out five assists and recording three steals, while Eliah Yode stuffed the stat sheet with six points, four assists, and three rebounds. Katie Burke contributed six points and four assists, and Stuchl anchored the paint with five points, four rebounds, and a block.
After a slow start, the Hawks erupted in the second quarter, outscoring York 30-5. Alexa Charles took control, scoring a game-high 24 points while adding eight steals and two assists. The defensive intensity overwhelmed the Cardinals, as Hunter forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 40 points.
With a 42-16 halftime lead, the Hawks continued to cruise in the third quarter, getting key contributions from the bench. Kennedy DeRuy was a perfect 3-for-3 from deep, finishing with nine points, while Gianna Henriques and Sophie Stratton provided energy off the bench.
The fourth quarter was a victory lap for the seniors, as the crowd cheered their final regular-season moments on their home floor. Hunter will now enjoy a bye in the CUNYAC quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinal round on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
With their perfect home record intact and momentum at their backs, the Hawks will look to carry their dominance into the postseason as they chase a CUNYAC title.
