BOX SCORE 2 MADISON, N.J. — The Hunter College men's volleyball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, sweeping both matches in a trimatch hosted by Drew University. The Hawks (3-5) took down Ramapo College (4-4) in the opener before handling the host Rangers (0-13) to complete a perfect day.
Hunter 3, Ramapo 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21)
Hunter started the day strong, controlling the tempo against Ramapo to secure a straight-set victory. Ahmed Mohamed led the offensive charge with a match-high 14 kills on .345 hitting, adding four digs and a block assist. Annes Deljanin and Jon Pflueger provided key offensive support with seven and eight kills, respectively, while the team combined to hit .258.
Setter Charles Pampliega directed the offense efficiently with 23 assists, chipping in seven digs and an ace. Defensively, Lucas George was a force at the net, tallying a match-high seven block assists to help keep Ramapo's attack in check. The Hawks held off a late push in the final set to secure their second win of the season.
Hunter 3, Drew 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-21)
The Hawks carried their momentum into the second match, overpowering host Drew University to close out the day. Mohamed once again led the way with 15 kills on .321 hitting, while Foley contributed six kills and two service aces.
Pampliega continued his strong play at setter, recording 22 assists and three service aces. Pflueger, despite some struggles offensively, made an impact at the net with four total blocks. Hunter's defense was solid throughout, registering 27 digs to stifle Drew's attack and secure its second sweep of the day.
The Hawks return to action on Feb. 13 as they open up conference play at 6:00 p.m. in the Sportsplex against Medgar Evers.
