BOX SCORE 2 BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Hunter College men's volleyball team (11-9, 7-1 CUNYAC) delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, sweeping Medgar Evers (0-10, 0-7 CUNYAC) in back-to-back matches at Cougars Cave. The Hawks controlled both contests from start to finish, winning each match in straight sets while holding Medgar Evers to single-digit points in every frame.
Game 1
Hunter took control early in the first match and never looked back, cruising to a 25-5, 25-6, 25-3 sweep. Ahmed Mohamed powered the offense with 12 kills on a .733 hitting percentage, while Admir Cekic and Lucas George each contributed seven kills, with Lucas George swinging at an impressive .875 clip.
The Hawks were relentless from the service line, racking up 22 aces. Admir Cekic led the way with 10, while Jon Domingo and Ahmed Mohamed combined for nine more. Setter Lenny Arbitman orchestrated the offense, dishing out 28 assists, while the defense held Medgar Evers to a -.263 hitting percentage.
Game 2
Hunter carried its momentum into the second match, closing out the night with a 25-2, 25-3, 25-4 victory. It was a complete team effort, with contributions across the board. Crisostomo Ibarra led the charge with eight kills on .600 hitting, while Kyle Foley added six kills and an ace. Jaidan LaSalle was electric from the service line, racking up a team-high 15 aces to keep Medgar Evers on the defensive.
Hunter's aggressive serving was a key factor, as the Hawks finished with 33 total aces, while limiting Medgar Evers to just four total kills and a -.480 team hitting percentage, leaving Medgar Evers unable to respond. Setter Brandon Yeh ran the offense efficiently, distributing 13 assists as the Hawks secured their second sweep of the night.
