BOX SCORE NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Hunter College men's volleyball team (14-9, 8-1 CUNYAC) continued its strong conference play with a straight-set victory over York College (4-11, 2-7 CUNYAC) on Tuesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks secured the sweep 25-12, 25-15, 25-16, using a balanced attack and efficient play from both regular starters and additional contributors.
Ahmed Mohamed led Hunter's offense with a match-high 15 kills on an outstanding .778 hitting percentage, while also adding three service aces. Kyle Foley followed with six kills on a .857 clip, and Crisostomo Ibarra and Jon Domingo each contributed four kills, helping to keep the offense running smoothly.
Charlie Alvarez recorded a kill, while Felipe Delgado distributed nine assists to keep Hunter's attack balanced. Demetri Gournelos and Jon Pflueger combined for six kills, with Jon Pflueger also delivering two service aces and a block assist to cap off a well-rounded effort. Jaidan LaSalle also contributed with a kill and a dig, adding to Hunter's depth in the win.
Setter Brandon Yeh directed the offense with 21 assists, ensuring a balanced attack that helped Hunter hit .524 as a team, while Wesley Stubbs added three block assists to strengthen Hunter's defensive presence at the net. The Hawks also controlled the service game, tallying 11 aces, including three from Ahmed Mohamed.
Hunter College looks to continue its strong CUNYAC play as the Hawks travel to face Lehman College on March 21 at 6 p.m. in a conference matchup in the Bronx, N.Y.
