FLUSHING, N.Y. — No. 3 Hunter College men's tennis team concluded its postseason run in the semifinals of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Semifinals to No. 2 Brooklyn College, 5-1 at the USTA National Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Brooklyn (6-7, 4-1 CUNYAC) took early control, going 2-1 in doubles play. The Bulldogs secured wins at first and third doubles while the Hawks' paur of
Anil Singh and
Savio Francis earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to put Hunter on the board.
In singles play, Hunter continued to battle, but the match was decided before all courts could finish. Brooklyn clinched the team victory with wins at No. 2, 3, and 5 singles, leaving matches at No. 1, 4, and 6 singles unfinished.
Alexander Hagiu forced a tight opening set at first singles,
Savio Francis stayed competitive at fourth singles, and
Martin Torterolo pushed his opponent to a first-set tiebreaker at sixth singles before play was halted.
