Hunter Men's Basketball Falls to Brooklyn

NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team dropped its fifth conference game of the season Tuesday night, falling to Brooklyn College, 64-40, at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Hawks (2-14, 0-5 CUNYAC) were unable to recover from a sluggish first half, scoring just 20 points in each period and shooting 24.6 percent from the field overall. Despite strong rebounding numbers and effort on the boards, Hunter struggled to find offensive rhythm, going 3-for-20 from three-point range and 9-for-20 at the free throw line.

JP Maaba led the Purple and Gold with nine points, including a three-pointer and a pair of key drives in the second half. Jayden Jarrett added seven points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Aidan Glackin posted seven points and 10 boards in an active performance off the bench.

Hunter won the rebounding battle, 46-41, and generated 11 second-chance points, but could not keep pace with Brooklyn's perimeter shooting and transition scoring. The Bulldogs converted 24 Hunter turnovers into 24 points and shot 38.7 percent from the field, including 9-of-23 from deep.

The Hawks return to action on Friday for a road conference game at Lehman. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
