FLUSHING, N.Y.- The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its weekly award winners for women's tennis with Hunter College earning both Rookie and Player of the Week.
Junior,
Sara Novo was named Player of the Week, while
Ana-maria Bichinashvili earned Rookie of the Week honors, following a 2-0 conference week for Hunter, who remains undefeated on the season at 7-0.
Both Hawks won all of their matches for the week.Â
Novo took 6-0 victories at No. 2 doubles against York and Albertus Magnus. In singles play, the Brooklyn native took a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over York in No. 2 singles, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the second doubles slot against the Falcons.
Bichinashivili earned a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles against York (6-0) and Albertus Magnus (6-1). In singles play, the freshman won No. 3 in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) against Albertus Magnus, as well as against York, with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Hunter returns to the court on Oct. 7 as it hosts Brooklyn College in a conference match at the USTA. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
