POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's fencing team placed eighth Sunday at the EWFC Championship.
The Hawks earned victories in four of their nine dual meets and finished the day with 91 total bout wins. Hunter's most dominant showing came in a 23–4 triumph over CCNY.
Sophomore
Julia Stenger delivered a career performance in foil, going a perfect 13–0 across the duals to secure third place and First Team All-Conference honors. Teammate
Brean Tobin, a candidate for this season's Woman of the Year award, also powered Hunter's foil success with a 12–2 record. The foil squad combined for 41 victories, accounting for nearly half of the Hawks' total on the day.
Katherine Hanin paced Hunter's épée squad with 11 bout wins while also earning Academic All-Conference recognition.
Mariama Barry set the tone in sabre, winning 10 of her 14 bouts.
The Hawks will continue their season on Feb. 22 at the LIU Invitational in Brooklyn, N.Y.
