Hawks Split Against Stevens, NJIT

HOBOKEN, N.J. — The Hunter College women's fencing team continued its season Sunday, splitting dual meets against Stevens Tech and NJIT.

Hunter opened the day against Stevens, falling 24–3, though the Hawks managed to secure a bout victory in each weapon squad.

The team regrouped in its second dual, earning a 15–12 victory over NJIT. The foil squad powered the comeback with a decisive 7–2 performance, providing the momentum needed to secure the team win.

Kehinde Ayinde in sabre, Julia Stenger in foil and Betzabe Granados in épée proved pivotal for the Hawks, with each fencer contributing three bout victories on the day.

The Hawks will continue their campaign Sunday at the EWFC Championship in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., hosted by Vassar College.
