Softball Blanked at Ramapo

RAMAPO, N.J.- The Hunter College softball team dropped both games of a nonconference doubleheader at Ramapo on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks fell 15-0 in the opener and 8-0 in game two, moving to 2-12 on the season, while Ramapo improved to 14-3.

Game 1: Hunter 0, Ramapo 15
Hunter totaled five hits in the first game but was unable to convert offensively against Ramapo's pitching.

Grace Basil led the Hawks with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while Amanda Ramirez, Sonia Rosales Rosenthal, and Elizabeth Thompson each added a hit. Hunter threatened in the third inning with consecutive singles from Ramirez and Rosales Rosenthal, but the rally was halted before a run could score.

Ramapo broke the game open with multiple big innings, building an early lead and extending it throughout the contest.

Isabella Thumhart was charged with the loss in the circle, allowing 14 earned runs over 3.2 innings, while Giordana Bowen provided relief.

Game 2: Hunter 0, Ramapo 8
Hunter was limited to one hit in the second game, with Ramirez accounting for the lone base knock.

The Hawks put a runner on in the first inning but were unable to generate further offense as Ramapo's pitching kept Hunter off balance throughout the game.

Ramapo scored two runs in the second inning and added on in the fourth, fifth, and sixth frames to secure the win.

Bowen took the loss, allowing two runs with none earned, over two innings, while Basil pitched the final three innings in relief. Despite the final score, Hunter's defense worked through several extended innings.

Hunter returns to action on Monday March 30, with a nonconference double header against visiting Purchase. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. on Randall's Island Field #12.
