FARMINGDALE, N.Y.- The Hunter College softball team dropped a nonconference doubleheader at Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks fell 8-0 in the opener before dropping a 6-0 decision in game two, moving to 12-26 on the season.
Game 1: Hunter 0, Farmingdale 8
Hunter was limited to two hits in the opener as Farmingdale (21-15) used a late offensive surge to take control.
Abigail Bidinger and Sonia Rosales Rosenthal each recorded a hit for the Hawks, with Bidinger adding a double. Hunter threatened in the fourth inning with a runner in scoring position but was unable to capitalize.
The Rams broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning after holding a narrow lead early. Isabella Thumhart was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs over 4.1 innings, while Madison Drouet worked in relief.
Game 2: Hunter 0, Farmingdale 6
Hunter was held to just one hit in the second game as Farmingdale controlled the game from the outset.
Bidinger recorded the lone hit for the Hawks, while Grace Basil reached base and helped generate an early scoring opportunity in the first inning. Hunter put runners on in multiple frames but could not break through offensively.
The Rams built their lead with runs in the first and second innings before adding insurance in the sixth.
Drouet took the loss in the circle, tossing a complete game while striking out three.
Hunter returns to action on May 1 to close out the regular season against John Jay College. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Fordham University.Â
