Icahn Stadium - Soccer Field/Track & Field
Icahn Stadium, located along Randall’s Island Park’s northwestern shoreline, is visible from the East Side of Manhattan and the FDR Drive. The $42 million facility meets International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) specifications for accommodating local, national and international track and field events, including Olympic training and trials. It offers a standard 400-meter Mondo surface running track, flanked by covered spectator seating with dramatic views of the East River and Manhattan skyline. The stadium is illuminated by a pair of light towers, and is partially sheltered by a cantilevered roof. The CUNY Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship is held annually at Icahn Stadium. In addition, the Hawks have utilized the stadium as a practice facility for both outdoor programs.
In addition, an artificial surface premier soccer field to the north of the Stadium is outfitted with a regulation size FieldTurf pitch, a score board, lighting and bleachers for spectators. In 2008, this became the primary home field of the Hunter men’s soccer team.
