Ed Metzendorf begins his second season as the Director of Men's and Women's Tennis at Hunter College in 2017.
In 2016, Metzendorf helped an entirely new squad to one win in conference play while guiding Catherine Ng and Maria Kogarova to CUNYAC All-Star status. He led the men's team to the 2017 CUNYAC finals for the fourth-straight year and coached the 2017 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year Nasser Ghaffar.
Metzendorf joined the Hunter ranks after spending the year before as the owner and director of Next Level Camps in Larchmont, NY. As the owner of the business, he oversees a summer day camp that has expanded to over 1,050 campers and manages all aspects of the camps including operation, staff management, marketing and advertising.
Metzendorf has over 15 years of experience in the camp industry, previously acting as the Managing Director at a summer camp technology company. While at Bunk1.com, he was named Executive Manager for Finance, Management and Business Development.
Metzendorf's tennis experience is vast, taking on the role of Tennis Chair of the Sunningdale Country Club since 2010. He has spent the past five years as a volunteer coach at the Mamaroneck & Lachmont Recreational Leagues, refining his coaching skills in not just tennis, but also soccer, lacrosse and basketball.
A graduate of Connecticut College, Metzendorf was a two-time captain of the varsity tennis team, while also lending his time to the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.
