Quentin “Q” Moore was named head coach of the Hunter College men’s volleyball team ahead of the 2025 season. A former professional volleyball player with nearly a decade of international experience, Moore brings a dynamic blend of high-level playing credentials, coaching expertise, and leadership to the Hawks program.
In his debut season, Moore led Hunter to an 18-12 overall record, a 12-2 mark in CUNYAC play, and a berth in the CUNYAC Championship match. The Hawks won eight of their final nine conference matches and finished second in the league standings. Hunter swept Brooklyn in the CUNYAC semifinals before falling to Baruch in four sets in the title match. The team extended its postseason into the ECAC Tournament, marking the program’s first ECAC appearance since 2022, and pushed No. 2 seed New Jersey City to five sets in the semifinals. Two Hawks earned All-Conference honors, including Ahmed Mohamed (First Team) and Lucas George (Second Team), while Nick Yao received CUNYAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention.
Prior to joining Hunter, Moore competed professionally in Trinidad & Tobago, Iceland, Denmark, and Germany, earning multiple MVP honors and recognition as one of the top attackers, servers, and defenders in each league. As a collegiate player at Pfeiffer University and Eastern Mennonite University, he served as team captain and was named Conference Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference selection.
Moore’s coaching background spans youth, collegiate, and professional levels, including roles with Virginia Union University, Richmond Volleyball Club, and several international programs. His coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, communication, and team cohesion while promoting a growth mindset.
Off the court, Moore holds academic credentials in Psychology, Social Work, and Spanish, bringing a holistic approach to athlete development that prioritizes mental wellness, resilience, and cultural awareness.
