Alyson Chiaramonte enters her second season an assistant softball coach after finishing a storied career with the Lady Bears in 2012. Few are more qualified to coach the team than the four-time USCAA All-American pitcher who rewrote the Lady Bears record books and led the team to four straight USCAA National Championships.
As the assistant coach for the Lady Bears, Chiaramonte's primary focus was working with the pitchers and catchers. Chiaramonte focused heavily on recruitment.
After four years of varsity softball at Moore Catholic High School, Chiaramonte was set to play for Division II Dowling College before transferring to St. Joseph's where she starred for four seasons and became one of the most decorated student-athletes in SJC history.
In addition to becoming the first four-time USCAA All-American in St. Joseph's history in any sport, Chiaramonte garnered four HVWAC All-Conference selections, two AD3I Pitcher of the Year awards (2011, 2012), two AD3I Player of the Year selections (2010, 2012) and was named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Year in 2011.
The right-handed hurler was the first only pitcher in school history to throw a perfect game, finishing with five perfectos and nine no-hitters in her career. Chiaramonte tallied 65 career wins in the circle along with 675 strikeouts to go with a sparkling 1.25 earned run average, the Lady Bear career leader in each category. She also excelled at the dish and is the all-time hits leader (184) while maintaining a third-highest .424 career batting average and 121 runs batted in.
Chiaramonte received her bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure Management from St. Joseph's College and now works for NYC Parks and Recreation. She has continued her post-collegiate softball career as a member of the NYC Havoc of the Women's Major Softball League.
A native of Carroll Park in Brooklyn, NY, Chiaramonte currently resides in Staten Island.
