Vincent Aceto embarks in his third year as an assistant coach at Hunter College. In his first year (2015) he aided the Hawks to an ECAC championship (the first in school history). Vinny, as he is affectionately called, serves as the team’s bench coach working primarily with the infielders as well as the pitchers and setting up the team’s defensive strategy.
Coach V’s guidance helped foster a winning attitude and has developed tremendous camaraderie with student-athletes and recruits. Â
Aceto brings a wealth of softball coaching experience with him from both the high school and collegiate levels. He was an assistant at NYU-Polytechnic for two years and prior to that was an assistant at James Madison and Abraham Lincoln high schools for a total of eight years. During these times, he facilitated his teams to two Skyline Conference regular season titles, two Coaching Staff of the Year nods, five PSAL Brooklyn "A" divisional titles and final four appearances, a PSAL Championship appearance and six PSAL playoff appearances.
Vincent, who has been involved as a coach in softball for over 30 years, including the travel ball circuit while also producing many New York City Public Schools Athletic League All-City Players, Collegiate All-Conference players and three Conference Player of the Year Award winners.
Additionally, Aceto was the host and Managing Editor of New York City’s only high school sports show for 24 years. "On the Sidelines" was heard on WNYE Radio, 91.5 FM where he also provided play-by-play for several PSAL Championship events.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Aceto holds his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Administration at St. John's University.
