Iliana Bitis is entering her second year as assistant coach of the Hunter Swimming and Diving team.
 
In her first season with the Hawks, the team saw several notable accomplishments including a 10-3 overall dual meet record, an undefeated season in the conference, second place finish at the CUNYAC championships, and three new school records. Additionally, 7 Hawks were named CUNYAC All Stars and the team as a whole received the CSCAA scholar All-American team award semester, with a 3.5 GPA
 
Coach Bitis has also been coaching swimming at the 92Y Flying Dolphins for 10 years. During her time with the flying dolphins, Bitis has been directly involved in the success of hundreds of athletes ranging from 8 and unders to NCAA conference finalists. Her swimmers are responsible for over 25 team records, and many of her athletes have competed at the Metro Junior Olympics, the Eastern Zones Championships, and ISCA Senior Championships. 
 
Bitis began her swimming career in Greece before moving to New York City in grade school. Once here, she swam and competed for the Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics Program. She was also the captain for the Long Island City High School swim team. Bitis graduated from Queens College with a degree in History—focusing on European History and minoring in Byzantine Studies.
