Marvin Hawkins

Marvin Hawkins was named head coach of the Hunter College women’s outdoor track and field team in August 2022. In just his third outdoor season at the helm, Hawkins guided the Hawks to their fifth straight CUNYAC Outdoor Championship in 2025. The team scored in 15 of 19 events and claimed individual titles in the 800m, 1500m, 400m hurdles, triple jump, and shot put. Hunter also earned second-place finishes in the 4x400m and 4x800m relays, with strong showings across field events, including the long jump, javelin, and discus.

Six athletes were named CUNYAC All-Stars under Hawkins’ leadership, while Mikaelle Cesar earned Rookie of the Year and Jamie Risso was named Field Athlete of the Year. Hawkins was honored as the 2025 CUNYAC Coach of the Year for his efforts.

Prior to joining Hunter, Hawkins coached for 28 years at Irving High School, producing 25 team championships, over 300 individual title winners, and 18 All-Americans. A USATF Level 1 certified coach, he began his athletic career at Essex Catholic High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University.
