Mike Fisher joined Hunter College as the head coach of the softball program in the spring of 2025, bringing an impressive breadth of coaching, educational, and leadership experience to the Hawks. Prior to his appointment at Hunter, Fisher held coaching roles at Purchase College (SUNY), Bronx High School of Science, Sleepy Hollow Schools, and John Jay High School. A highlight of his coaching career includes founding and leading the Pro-Swing Lady Pride 18U showcase team, which earned a seventh-place finish at Worlds in 2016 and helped numerous athletes advance to NCAA programs.
Fisher holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Lehigh University (1990) and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Manhattanville College (2005). With over 20 years of experience in education, he has served as both a Physical Education teacher and a first-through-third-grade teacher at PS 153 in the Bronx, where he developed and implemented innovative curriculum across grade levels.
In addition to his coaching and teaching accomplishments, Fisher has a strong background in business management. He has held leadership roles in retail and successfully owned and operated Carmel Printing, where he oversaw sales, contracts, operations, and human resources.
Certified as a Registered Athletic Administrator (NIAAA), along with various other educational and health-related certifications, Fisher is committed to professional growth and the development of his student-athletes both on and off the field. A former Division I football player, Fisher enjoys staying active through weightlifting, walking his rescue dogs, and cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Above all, he values time with his family and takes great pride in his daughter and son.
