Madison, NJ – The Hunter men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Madison, NJ to face the Rangers of Drew University in the Hawks first men's/women's road trip and the teams would split with the men's team falling 8-1 and the women's program winning 8-1 over the Rangers Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) improves to 16-0 with a victory at first singles and then was paired up with freshman
Elizabeth Feldman (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) to earn the duo's 12th victory at first doubles. Feldman improved her season mark to 16-1 with a win at third singles.
Junior
Monica Calungcagin (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) and sophomore
Louise Hollander (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) won their second doubles match and also won both of their singles matches. Sophomore
Carolyn Jones (Killeen, TX/Killeen) rounded out the game with a win at sixth singles.
On the men's side, junior
Jerome Guce (New City, NY/Ramapo) continues to excel as he was the only Hawk to win a match, taking third singles with his opponent defaulting after
Guce took the first set and was leading in the second set.
The women's team now improves to 19-2 on the year, while the men's team falls to 8-5 overall. The men will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Patchogue, NY to face Saint Joseph's College for a 1:00 p.m. match and the women will host New Paltz on Friday for a 6:00 p.m. remake of their match that got rained out during the fall season. The women's match will be played at Hunter's home courts at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
