Tennis Opens 2008 With 7-2 Win Over Lehman

Bronx, NY – The Hunter women's tennis team extended its CUNY Athletic Conference win streak to 48 consecutive matches with a 7-2 win over Lehman College led by junior Linda Ravul (Little Neck, NY/St. Mary's) who won her second singles match 6-2, 6-3 Thursday afternoon at The APEX in the Bronx, NY.

Freshman Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris) picked up a win at third singles 6-1, 7-5 and paired up with junior Bomi Park (Astoria, NY/Younghoon) for a victory at second doubles, 8-2. Park won her fourth singles match 6-0, 6-0.

Freshmen Nora Milman (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) and Olga Gervitis (Bronx, NY/Bronx Science) rounded the day out with victories at fifth and sixth singles. Lehman junior Evauna Neville (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers) earned her team's only singles win, 6-1, 6-1, over freshman Stefanie Smith (Little Neck, NY/Cardozo) at first singles. The Lightning also took first doubles, with the team of Neville and junior Aurora Peters (Hollis, NY/Jamaica) downing Smith and Ravul 8-5.

The Hawks return to the courts on Saturday, when they are schedule to open up at home against Moravian College at 1:00 p.m. at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
