Hawks Grounded by Cardinals

Jamaica, NY – Junior forward Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) recorded her sixth double-double of the season, scoring a game high 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds but after trailing by just one points at the end of the first, the Cardinals of York College controlled the second to pick up a 76-58 victory in a CUNY Athletic Conference game Wednesday night in Jamaica, NY.

Sophomore guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) scored 12 points in 24 minutes of action, before fouling out late in the second half. Freshman guard Angelika Wronowska (Brooklyn, NY/Baruch) was the final Hawk in double-digits, netting a season high ten points.

The Cardinals were led by freshman guard Justina Boatwright (Queens, NY/Martin Van Buren) who scored 16 points, 12 of which came from the free-throw line. Next in line for York was freshman center Kadisha Wickham (Brooklyn, NY/HJ Robinson) finished with 15 points.

The Hawks will remain on the road as they head down to Staten Island on Saturday for a conference match-up with the Dolphins at Noon.
