Dotti Scores Twice to Advance Hawks to Semifinals

Staten Island, NY - Senior forward Oscar Dotti (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) connected twice on passes from sophomore forward Mauro Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY/EBC Bushwick) to score the game's only goals as the Hawks shutout the City College of New York for the second time this season and advance to the semifinal round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon at the CSI Soccer Complex in Staten Island, NY

After CCNY controlled the ball for the first ten minutes of the game, the Hawks got an opening in which a perfectly placed cross pass from Ortiz found an airborne Dotti who headed it to the opposite corner to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead with 32:20 left in the half.

Then with just eight seconds remaining in the half, the Hawks sprinted up the field and Ortiz once again connected with Dotti who found the back of the net to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Hunter then controlled the second half, holding the Beavers to just three shots, while taking ten of their own that included one hitting the cross bar and another taking a hard bounce in front of the keeper and just over the net.

Freshman keeper Alexandre Ilic (Miami, FL/Miami Killian Senior High) earned his fourth shutout of the season, making three saves in net for the Hawks, while Tayfun Kucuc made five saves for the Beavers in defeat.

The defending CUNYAC Champs will now face the winner of Baruch vs. City Tech who had held a 1-0 lead over the Bearcats on Wednesday night after one half, however a lighting issues at the Metropolitan Oval forced the game to be suspended and will be replayed in its entirety on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks semifinal match will be played on Saturday, October 31 at the same location as today's match, the CSI Soccer Complex.
