New York, NY – Three Hawks finished in double figures as they pick up a key CUNY Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday, defeating the City College of New York 58-51, to move up a spot in the conference standing as the team heads into its final conference game on Friday.
Junior forward
Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) finished with a game high 17 points, while also pulling down 11 rebounds to lead the Hawks. Sophomore guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) also added 15 points and 11 rebounds, while junior guard
Shay Branch El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) scored 11 points and dished out six assists.
The Beavers were led by sophomore forward Nadia Tijani who also scored a game high 17 points and had 11 rebounds. Freshman center Ashley Straughn and sophomore guard Anika Rivera each added 12points for CCNY.
The Hawks return home on Friday for their final conference game of the season, facing the bloodhounds of John Jay College for a 5:00 p.m. game.
