Hawks Close Out Regular Season with 57-48 Loss on the Road

Mahwah, NJ – Junior forward Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) recorded her 39th career double-double on Wednesday scoring 17 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, but her efforts would not be enough as the Hawks drop their regular season finale 57-48 against non-conference opponent Ramapo College at the Bradley Center in Mahwah, NJ.

Sophomore guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) was the only other Hawk to finish in double figures, also scoring 17 points and picking up four steals. The Hawks struggled offensively in the first, scoring just 17 points and never truly got things going in the second half as only six of the ten individuals who participated scored at least one point. Junior center Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) finished with the third highest point total on the team, nine, and also grabbed 12 rebounds.

The Roadrunners were led by sophomore guard Stephanie Cannizzaro (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock), who scored a game high 25 points, while senior forward Tiffany China (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) added 11 points and junior center Beth Weinmann (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) had a team high 12 rebounds.

The Hawks close out the 2008-09 regular season with an 8-17 overall record. They will turn their attention towards this Saturday's CUNY Athletic Conference Quarterfinal match-up in which they will be on the road to face the third-seeded Lehman College Lightning for a 2:00 p.m. game.
