Bronx, NY – The Hunter women's basketball season came to an end on Saturday after the Hawks weren't able to pull out the upset against the third-seeded Lehman College who earn a 48-37 victory in to advance to the CUNYAC Semifinals after a low scoring affair Saturday afternoon at the APEX in the Bronx, NY.
Sophomore guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) scored a team high 13 points, shooting 9-of-11 from the charity stripe, while junior center
Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) pulled down a game high 12 rebound and also scored seven points.
The Lightning, who held just a three point lead at the half, were led by three-time CUNYAC Player of the Year Sally Nnamani (Warwick, NY/Warwick) who finished with a game high 23 points despite shooting just 8-of-30 from the field. Joining her in double figures was senior forward Monique Sampson (Bronx, NY/Cathedral) with ten points and also had a team high ten rebounds.
Hunter finishes the 2008-09 season with an 8-18 overall record. Lehman College will now face #2 Staten Island College who advanced after defeating CCNY 84-67.
