Whyms Scores 14 Points In 51-23 Win Over City Tech

New York, NY – Junior center Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) scored a game high 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to help lead the Hawks to a 51-23 win over the New York City College of Technology in CUNY Athletic Conference women's basketball action Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Yellow Jackets converted on the first basket of the game, but the not long after giving their only lead of the game up and allowing the Hawks to go on a 14-0 run and take a 17-2 lead with 9:31 left in the half. City Tech was able to chip away at the lead and trailed by just seven points at the end of the half.

In the second half, the Hawks took full control of the game, allowing just eight points and scoring 29. Sophomore guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) put forth a solid effort for the Hawks with 13 points and three assits, while freshman forward Angelika Wronowska (Brooklyn, NY/Baruch) hit three shots from downtown for nine points.

Sophomore forward Akela Moses (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Tech) finished with nine points and eight rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday, when they head to the Bronx to face Lehman College for a Noon game at the APEX.
