Monica Calungcagin (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles and also team up with junior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) for an 8-4 win at first doubles to help the Hawks to a 7-2 victory over Drew University on Wednesday afternoon in Madison, NJ.
The freshmen duo of
Stefanie Smith and
Veronica Efimenko earned an 8-2 win at third doubles to put the Hawks up 2-1 to start the match. They then took control in singles play with
Kim taking first singles 6-0, 6-0 to improve her season record to 14-4. Sophomore
Anna Vagner won her third singles match 7-6, 6-1, while
Efimenko took fifth singles in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 and junior
Linda Ravul won at sixth singles 6-3, 6-3.
The Hawks have one more dual match left on their spring schedule, as they prepare for the 2009 NCAA Tournament, heading up to New Paltz, NY to face SUNY-New Paltz on Friday, April 24 and then will remain in New Paltz for a Tournament on Saturday.
