Flushing, NY – Despite an exciting first doubles victory, the Hunter women's tennis team dropped their fourth consecutive match of the spring season, falling to Vassar College 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
In a match that took over an hour and a half, the Hawk duo of senior
Monica Calungcagin (Valley Cottage/NY, Nyack) and junior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) battled from behind to earn a 9-7 victory over Brewers Nicole Pontee and Jamison Steele.
Kim then had another come from behind effort in her first singles match, winning the second set 6-2 after losing the first 7-5, but would fall in the super tiebreaker set 10-2. Vassar swept the remainder of the singles matches.
The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday, April 15 when they travel to Madison, NJ for a match with Drew University at 3:30 p.m.
