Bronx, NY – The Hunter women's tennis team opened up their 2009 campaign with a 5-2 victory over Lehman College on Wednesday night to extended the program's CUNY Athletic Conference win streak to 56 consecutive regular season matches.
Senior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) and sophomore
Stefanie Smith (Little Neck, NY/Cardozo) won their first doubles match 9-8, followed by the duo of junior
Veronica Efimenko (Belarus/#181) and sophomore
Olga Chagin (Dix Hills, NY/Tottenville) won second doubles 9-8. The Hawks then clinched the match in singles play with
Kim winning first singles 6-0, 6-0,
Efimenko taking second singles 6-4, 6-2, and sophomore
Nora Milman (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) was victorious in her fourth singles match 6-4, 6-0.
The team will return to the courts on Tuesday, September 15 when they head to Brooklyn, NY for a match with Medgar Evers College at 4:00 p.m.
