Hawks Shutout by York

Box Score

Jamaica, NY – Despite taking almost the same number of shots as the opposition, the Hunter men's soccer team wasn't able to find the back of the net as they get shutout by the York College Cardinals, 2-0 in a CUNY Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon in Jamaica, NY.

After a great defensive first 40 minutes of play, Cardinals sophomore Sergio Restrepo (Colombia/Bryant) scored the game's first goal and eventual game winner with a little over a minute left in the first half.

York then added a security goal in the opening minutes of the second half when junior Elysee Vilsaint (Port-au-Prince, Haiti / South Shore) headed a shot past the Hawk keeper to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore keeper Samer Abdel-Fattah (Queens, NY/Van Buren) made four saves in net for the Cardinals in earning his second straight shutout, while freshman Alexandre Ilic (Miami, FL/Miami Killian Senior High) made five saves in net for the Hawks.

The Hawks will be back in action on Monday, September 28 when they travel to Riverdale, NY for a non-conference match with New York University at 7:00 p.m. at Gaelic Field on the campus of Manhattan College.
