Late Goal Lifts NYU Over Hawks, 1-0

Riverdale, NY – In what seems to be a repeating story for the Hawks this season, they played a great defensive game, this time for over 75 minutes, but following a foul about 45 yards out, Violet freshman Cameron Javadi booted a shot that took an awkward bounce and found its way into the net to give New York University as 1-0 lead and eventual victory in a non-conference men's soccer match Monday night at Gaelic Field in Riverdale, NY.

NYU seemed to dominate the game on paper, out shooting the Hawks 18-5, but with every close attempt they had at the net, the Hunter defense was able to make the stop.

Junior Matt Stieve (Des Plains, IL/Maine West) earned his first career shutout, making four saves in net for the Bobcats, while freshman Alexandre Ilic (Miami, FL/Miami Killian Senior High) had five saves in net for the Hawks.

Hunter will return to the pitch on Wednesday, when they are scheduled to take on the City College of New York at 3:30 p.m. on Randall's Island .
