Late Rally Gives Baruch a 72-64 Win Over Hawks

New York, NY – Senior forward Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) had a solid first half, lead the Hawks with 14 points to give her team a 31-30 lead, however a 12-0 run in the middle of the second half would prove to be the difference maker as the Bearcats of Baruch College pickup a 72-64 victory over Hunter College in a CUNY Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Baruch dominated the boards, out rebounding Hunter 55-37 with senior forward Kalea Davis leading the way with 15 boards to go along with her 13 points. Junior forward Megan Bouwends also recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Anika Sierk tied a game high of 19 points, while junior guard Monique Salmon pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds.

Buckham recorded the 42nd double-double of her career with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) had yet another good night for the Hawks, scoring 17 points along with four rebounds and three assists, while senior guard Deseree Boler (Bronx, NY/Patapsco) was the third Hawk to score in double figures, sinking 12 points and dishing out five assists.

Hunter picks up just its fourth loss of the season to fall to 6-4, while Baruch improves to 9-3 on the year and 2-0 in CUNYAC play. The Hawks will now head to the Bronx, NY on Friday, where they will face Lehman College in the first game of a CUNYAC men's & women's doubleheader with the women playing at 5:00 p.m. and the men at 7:15 p.m.
