On Wednesday, October 6, the men's soccer team played host to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in a conference matchup. The Hawks ended their scoreless three game drought with a 4-0 victory over the Bulldogs. With the win, the Hawks advance to 5-5-3, 3-1-2 CUNYAC while Brooklyn drops to 2-8-2, 1-4-1 CUNYAC.
The Hawks came out strong offensively, playing much of the first half in Brooklyn territory. In the 10th minute, Mario Baez, off of rebound from a throw in, sent the ball past keeper Charles Devorn for the first goal of the game. Jaison Moreno and Saif Zureikat were credited with the assists on the play. 18 minutes later, Omry Lifschitz dribbled the ball down the right side from midfield and sent a cross to a wide open Baez who headed the ball in for his second goal of the game.
The Hawks continued to put pressure on the Bulldog defense as they kept the Brooklyn goalie very busy, tallying 24 total shots on goal. Luis Palomo notched the third goal of the game in the second half as he fired a shot from the left side that found the back of the net. With less than five minutes to go, senior Anthony Intrabartolo capitalized on a shot he took from 20 yards out as he placed the ball in the top right hand corner of the goal for the fourth and final goal of the game.
Brooklyn could not get any offense going as they recorded just five shots on goal throughout the game. In the loss, Devorn tallied 15 saves will Hawk keeper, Zade Haobsh got the win and made 4 saves.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 9 when they play the Bloodhounds of John Jay College in a conference match up. The game is slated for a 4:00 pm start at the Metropolitan Oval.
