Box Score

Poughkeepsie, NY (November 23, 2010) – On Tuesday night, November 23, the women's basketball team played visitor to the Brewers of Vassar College in a non conference matchup. After a strong start, the Hawks faded as injuries hampered the team, giving Vassar the advantage and 70-48 win as Hunter falls to 1-3 while the Brewers advance to 2-1.

A steal followed by a made three pointer off the hands of freshman Nicole Lenard got the Hawks on the board first and allowed them to remain ahead of their counterparts for more than half of the first 20 minutes of regulation. The Brewers slowly closed the gap and after five lead changes, led the Hawks by five heading into overtime.

An 8-0 run sparked by six points from Brittany Parks set the Hawks in a 13 point hole. However, two made free throws and a three pointer by Johanna Keilwitz brought her team closer and with 12:03, Hunter was back within six. With 10 minutes to go, Vassar pressed on as the Hawks, plagued by injury, began to fade and deficit began to widen, eventually putting the game out of reach as the Brewers pulled away to a 70-48 victory.

Parks and Cydni Matsuoka led all scorers with 22 and 20 points respectively while Lenard led the Hawks with 17 points and nine boards.

The Hawks will regroup and resume play when they visit the Bloodhounds of John Jay on Tuesday, November 30 at 5pm.
