Mahwah, NJ – Senior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) moved into a tie for most singles victories all-time at Hunter after winning her first singles match 6-0, 6-0, but the Hawks would come up short to Ramapo College 5-4, as they opened up the spring season on Wednesday.
Kim improves her four-year career record to 62-6, which ties her with
Antigone Tzakis who built up a 62-11 record while playing for the Hawks from 2004-2008.
Hunter held a 2-1 lead following doubles with
Kim and sophomore
Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris) teaming up for an 8-1 victory in the first slot, while the Hawks newest member
Jennifer Kraham (East Northport, NY/Commack) teamed with junior
Jessica Yi (Queens, NY/Newport) for an 8-6 win at second doubles. Kraham then won her second singles match 6-3, 6-0, but that would be the Hawks final win as the Roadrunners won third through sixth singles.
The Hawks (13-2) will be back in action on Wednesday, when they head up to Poughkeepsie, NY to face Vassar College at 4:00 p.m.
