Hawks Suffer Rare 9-0 Loss to #22 Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY – For just the third time since 2005, the Hunter women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss, falling to the #22 Vassar College Brewers on Wednesday afternoon as the Hawks fall to 13-3 on the year, 0-2 in the spring season.

Last season, it took three sets for senior Nicole Pontee to get past Hunter's Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo), but this year she was able to take the match in two sets, while giving up just three games, 6-2, 6-1. Aside from that match, sophomore Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris) was the only other Hawk to grab a game in singles play.

Hunter will look to rebound this weekend, when the depart for a weekend trip in Pennsylvania, first facing Kings College (9-7) on Friday at 3:30 p.m., followed by a match in Dallas, PA on Saturday against Misericordia (8-5) University at 10:00 a.m.
