On Saturday, September 18, the soccer team traveled to Purchase, New York to take on the Valiants of Manhattanville College in a non-conference game. The match was heavily one sided as the Hawks were out played 4-0 and struggled to get some momentum going for them. With the loss, Hunter falls to 2-3-2, 0-0-1 CUNYAC while Manhattanville advances to 3-2 on the year.
The Valiants jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as midfielder Erick Olazabal received a pass from teammate Keston George to net the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. They struck again as they scored two quick goals, both in the 31st minute to make it a three goal game. Just before the end of the first half, George netted the fourth goal of the half for a 4-0 lead, which would ultimately be the final score.
Hunter couldn't manage to create an opportunity and was out-shot 20-0 and had only one corner compared to the Valiant's 10. Keeper Zade Haobsh recorded 10 saves in the loss in 67:34 minutes of play while backup Bradley Highfield saw 22:26 minutes of action.
The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, September 22 when they play host to the City College of New York their second conference match of the season. The game is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start at Randal's Island Field #10.
