Men’s Soccer Earns 0-0 Draw with John Jay College

BOX SCORE

NEW YORK, NY –
For the third consecutive match the highly coveted golden goal eluded the Hawks as the Hunter College men's soccer team played CUNY Athletic Conference foe John Jay College to 0-0 draw at Randall's Island this evening.

The Hawks move to 3-6-4 on the year and 2-1-3 in the CUNYAC while the Bloodhounds are now 2-1-3 overall and 2-3-1 in conference action this season.

The Hawks held a slight shooting advantage over the Bloodhounds, 7-6, however the visitors landed more direct attempts, managing five shots on goal to HC's two. Hunter also took nearly twice as many corner kicks with 10 compared to John Jay's 6.

Yong Kim Sung and Eduardo Delgado were the most active players in Hunter's offense with each firing off two shots this evening. Rafi Mashirqi paced John Jay with three shots, including two attempts on goal.

Hunter's deadliest attempt came near the end of the first half. With just time ticking down and just 55 seconds remaining, Sung made an impressive run down the right wing and fired a shot on goal but John Jay keeper Vitecha Vochaon made an impressive sliding save to keep the score knotted at zero.

The Hawks managed a pair of shots early in the second half and just one in the first overtime period but could not find the back of the net as John Jay's defense held strong.

Zade Haobsh was outstanding between the pipes for Hunter as the senior tallied five saves to keep the Bloodhounds off the board.

Hunter returns to action this Wednesday, October 12 when the Hawks welcome Lehman College to Randall's Island. Kickoff is slated for 4:30pm.
