Women's Basketball Falls To Ramapo, 75-47

The Hunter College women's basketball team was defeated by Ramapo, 75-47 in the first regular season game of the 2011-12 season at the Hunter Sportsplex on Tuesday evening.

Nicole Lenard led the Hawks with 14 points and grabbed three boards in tonight's loss to the Roadrunners. Kristen Markoe added 11 points and led the squad with a team-high seven rebounds and six assists.

After a back-and-forth start to the contest, Ramapo went on a 14-0 run to take a 18-4 lead at the 12:46 mark. The Hawks contended but were plagued by shooting woes early, connecting on just 8-33 shots from the field in the first half as the Roadrunners took a 27-17 lead into the break.

The Hawks greatly improved their shooting efforts in the second half, finishing the period 51.7% but were outscored 48-32 as the Roadrunners spoiled the home opener. 

Hunter returns to the court this weekend as they host the Hunter College Tip-Off Invitational. The Hawks will face St. Joseph's College - Long Island on Friday, November 18 at 5pm while Husson University and Cetenary College square-off at 7:00 pm. The tourmanent consolation game is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday, November 19 with the championship game immediately following at 3pm.
