NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter College women's basketball team snapped a 12-game losing streak against the Baruch College Bearcats with an impressive 63-51 victory at the Sportsplex on Friday evening.

Hunter improves to 4-7 and remains unblemished in CUNYAC action at 3-0. The Bearcats fall to 6-6 and 2-1 in the CUNYAC.

Hunter took a 29-18 lead into the break after closing out the final five minutes of play on a 11-0 run. The second half opened in a similar capacity with the Hawks controlling play in the game, leading to a 13-point (40-27) lead with 14 minutes left to play. The Bearcats stormed back however, going on a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to tie the game with 8:49 left to play. The Hawks wasted little time moving back ahead, relying on a couple of big plays from Hamlet to regain control of the contest as the freshman converted a pair of free throws before coming up with a steal and assist to quickly swing the momentum back in favor of the Hawks.

Hunter shot 49% on the night, including a 52% effort in the second half. Hunter connected on 12-17 shots from the charity stripe, good for 70.6%. Conversely, the Hawks played stingy defense, limiting the Bearcats to just 30.6% shooting from the field and 7.1% from behind the arc.

Hunter returns to action next Tuesday, January 10th when they welcome New York University to the Sportsplex.
