FLUSHING, NY - On Tuesday, October 9th, the women's tennis team played host to the Bearcats of Baruch. The women were victorious depsite the grueling weather conditions, beating Bearcats 5-0. With the win, the women improve to 6-3 while Baruch drops to 5-6.
The day started indoors at the USTA National Tennis Center due to weather. The Hawks swept all three doubles, with Juniors
Shena Joseph and
Jane Selegean winning their first doubles match 8-4. Sophomores Caroline Kaelda and
Beth Chapnick pulled out a tough win at second doubles with a score of 8-6. CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Anjelina Usherenko and sophomore
Stephanie Ahwireng took down their third doubles match 8-4.
Due to weather outdoors, the match was halted after Hunter reached 5 points. Selegean dispoed of Baruch's Patricia Correia 6-3, 6-3 while Jospeh dominated at second singles 6-2, 6-4 to give the Hawks their 5th point for the win.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, October 10th when they travel to SUNY Purchase to take on the Beavers of CCNY.
